Cant go wrong with a old honda scrambler like a CL350 or something, good to lean on, you can get a good lookin one for not much; if you dump it, it's not the end of the world.

I wouldn't take advice from somebody that is into "stunting" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
The only reason I wouldn't get a powerful bike at first is to learn throttle control, otherwise just because you have alot of bike doesn't mean you have to ride it at the edge all the time.
Yes def. do not listen to me because I have the ability to do tricks on one wheel.

But if for some crazy reason you do decide to listen to me, you riding it around with your dad for a while at first to get the hang of it, and if you don't got a big head on your shoulders, sounds like a good idea to me.

so it wouldnt be a bad idea if i rode around with my dad most of the time until i got the hang of it?

this is still gonna be a while, i need a new job and im hopin to save like 2k to put down on it...

If your the kind of guy that "stunts" on public streets with other people around then my statement stands. If you only do it off of public streets then its all good, I commend your skill. I just don't like people that ride like idiots on public streets and give bikers a bad name is all.

And definately do the riding around with your dad gig. Here for your permit your supposed to ride with a licensed rider at all times anyhow. Your dad can give you pointers and watch out for you while you learn. If you have practiced some on your dads bike I say get the R6 and just don't let your balls grow faster than your skill level //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

...edit, you said it will be a while. Get on your dads bike as much as you can before you buy yours and you'll be ready.

I learned on a roadstar and was a skinny kid when I did. They are extremely well balanced and aren't really that powerful stock. If you get some more practice on that (if he lets you), when you get on a sportbike the weight difference might make you more confident. The difference in seat height will be a wierd change though.

Its not the bike you want in the long run, but I say take practice where you can get it. A motorcycle course isn't a bad idea either if you have the time/money.

ya, well i doubt hed let me practice on his bike...its brand new :/
I can understand. I don't have kids but if I did they wouldn't be touching my bike //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

You checked on any rider courses in your area?
