well i finally got to RIDE a motorcylce the other day, it was on my dads yamaha roadster classic or something like that, but i loved it...

my dad said hed teach me to drive one if i bought it, and i really want to now, especially with gas the way it is...my question is whats the largest CC bike you can buy to start off with? i wanna say ive heard there is a limit but im not sure..

also does anyone have any suggestions on what would be a good first bike? i want a street bike for sure, it doesnt have to be hella fast or anything, but id buy it new...

well if you have really no experience you should start out with a 600cc bike

they are the most user friendly

i.e= if you mis-time a shift the bike wont accelerate out of no where and pickup and possibly make you crash.

where as a bike like the honda blackbird cbr-xx you would need precision shifting to ride that.

the only thing is you have to be patien. start out slow and work your way up.

and then the other question is do you want a cruiser(harley) or a sport bike ( suzuki, kawasaki)

usually cruisers are easier to handle due to the fact the ave a lower center of gravity and are easier to handle so you dont have to lean as much. where as with sports bikes the engine sits higher up so the center of gravity is higher and you have to lean more and it is a little harder to control.

i was actually just looking at the yamaha yzf r6s which is 600cc...like i said im not looking for a ton of power, but a decently fast lightwieght bike that i can control but not something thats going to feel small sitting on...

I have a yamaha roadstar too, great bike. I learned to ride on a roadstar, now anything else just feels small //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

So you want a cruiser or a crotch rocket?

crotch rocket...and ya i love my dads bike, but its just to big for me..

I myself have 02 r6 and a 07r1 the r6 was great to learn on enough power to still get the front end up a little bit but the r1 a bike that size without knowledge will end up with a lot of problems

****, I don't have any good advice then. Only crotch rocket I've been on is the buell xb9s I have. Fun bike, but not the fastest thing in the world.

From what i've heard/read the yamaha R6 is a hellofa bike.

all bikes have alot of after market stuff.

just on the net what i have seen are mufflers and dual muffler kits.

you can get hid kits for it. ive seen that looks pretty sick imho.

you can buy different mirrors , tails, side panels.

but iif youre just startingi wouldnt change anything performance wise like brakes.

hell ive even seen custom fiberglassed bodies

this is a good site to buy from btw

and of course. the r-6 forum

If you want some real power look into the hayabusa or honda blackbird cbr-xx those are the 2 fastest sports bikes availabe. and my uncl has the blackbird and that thing flies.
goes from 0-60 in like 3.5 sec i think and 0-150 in like 9sec.

thats a good starter bike not to small but not to powerful

ya i just looked at that to...aahhh i lovvveee the way hyabusas look, but i dont think id last to long on a bike that powerfull...
