there are two different cars I am looking at right now a chevy Blazer and or an Astro van

I want to be loud I want lots of spl but on the other hand I would like sound quality as well I would like your guys recomendations and help on some things

when I get my car I will have plenty of room so that is not a question so I would like to ask....

How many subs?

what is good for both spl and sq?

and if you know maybe a ball park figure on how muck money I will need to spend

thanks again for your time

I've had a '94 and '89 blazer for stereo system set ups. They have been both for sound quality and high output. It isn't very difficult to get high output with subwoofers in a chevy blazer. Just because of the sheer size of the astro van, it will be harder to get louder if you had identical equipment.

if you're looking to do the entire system and you want it to sound good and be loud, I'd think you'll probably spend anywhere between $1500-$6000.

Kick panels sound good for the fronstage in a blazer, so some decent quality component speakers such as quart, cdt, dynaudio, avi, diamond, focal, crystal and others will do nicely. You'll want to amplify the components. A 4 channel amplifier bridged 2x (4ohm mono bridges x2) to each of the components providing about 100-200 watts RMS (turn the gains down), then another amp that will be selected specifically for your subwoofers.

subs, for sound quality and high output:

adire brahma

image dynamics idmax

Resonant Engineering XXX series

blueprint '03 series

there are other subs, I'm sure, but I strongly suggest checking out the adire audio brahma. those are $369 for 12" and $429 for the 15"

a single or pair of 15" should put out a lot of sound pressure and retain decent sound quality as well.

Amps to look into for the subs

Rockford fosgate bd 1500

dei 1100d

memphis mojo

orion xtr pro

precision power pcx-2400 (1600 watts)

I"m just listing a few that I know, I'm sure others will come up with more suggestions.

**** dreamer has a lot of knowledge and time on his hands. hehe, anyway for the XXX there stuff is only online like the blueprint. now for the blazer you think he should ditch the rear fill though??? is it stupid to have my rear fill in my car i have a jimmy same as blazer that's why i ask.

adam

hehe, thanks for the compliment, adam -- and as far as the rear fill

ditch the rear fill if you want hard core staging.

The blueprints are super, super low qts drivers and in a sealed box, their low end response suffers, they have hella midbass energy however. In the right ported box, they will be very peaky and have a lot of spl at the tuning point, but their response curves honestly look wierd to me. But, they've been used with good results before, so that is why I at least informed you -- also the prices on them are good.

I'm impressed!!!

Aaahhhh blueprints....... I just got my second. I plan on running the pair of 1203's in my SQPL install. Dreamer is right about the blueprint's losing some of their low end in sealed enclosures. But they really excel in ported enclosures. Put in the proper enclosure, the blueprints can run with the big boys. And alot of times dog them. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I like the brahma a little bettter. But I don't like them enough to spend the extra cash for the brahma's. But as always that's just my humble opinion. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Im still waiting to get a blueprint 1503 I think im going to do a 3.75 slot vented box, I figure itll be just about 3.5 with the motor displacement. Im gong to give it 800 watts in a 1990 Nissan Sentra!!

Unless your going to compete I don't see any reason to go over $3,000. At least not paying internet prices.

Its all on you bud, lol. You can spend close to that $3,000 total just on subs and amps. Getting 2 JL 13w7's and 2 JL 1000/1's to power them would be great, but will run you in the neighborhood of $600-800 per each piece of equipment. Or you can get just as good of a setup, if not better with 2 Adire Brahma's and 2 JBL1200.1's. $379 per sub and $285 per amp. Big difference right? Good luck with your system, and I would go with the Blazer.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
