mono or 2 channel

i have 4ohm dvc kicker compcvr's 15" i could wir them to 4 ohms with a 2 channel amp or to 1 ohm with a mono amp. if wattage ratings were the same, would one setup be louder than the other or would they be about the same? thanks

A 4 ohm load is cheaper to accomplish by bridging a 4 channel amp.

Nm.

However if you get a 1 ohm load, a mono is cheaper.

The mono may be a little bit louder because they are sometimes slightly more effecient...depending on the brand.

In your case SPL is simply an issue of power.

A 2 ch (a/b) bridged for 1000w at 4 ohms is going to be exactly as loud as a 1000w class D wired at 1 ohm to the same subs.

Efficiency only involves the load the amp places on the alt/battery - which will always be less with a class D when comparing amps of similar power.
