Mono amps....

with a mono amp (or a bridged 2 ch) a pair of dual 4's can only be wired at 1 or 4 ohms. 1 ohm won't be an option with that amp since it's not stable - at 4 ohms the amp will produce ~500w - each sub will see 250w.

 
Yup. If you want a pair of the MAWs, you'll need to get an amp that puts out the power you need at one ohm. You can also use a 2-channel that puts out 1000w at 4 ohms bridged, but I can pretty much guarantee that the mono amp will be cheaper.
