Mono amp ? and HU ?

Ok I am very new to site and I have read over some things but I want to know.

If I get a Mono 1000-2000 watt amp, can I power two 10 or 12 inch subs?

Also I'm on a tight budget ($250-350ish) for everything so I don't want to get a HU. Do I need a power converter or something like that?

Thanks

wtf? With the knowledge that you have in car audio, it would be pointless to try and sell you anything. You need to do a lot of GOOGLE searchin. You need to learn about ohms, electrical systems, basically everything in car audio.

I would suggest browsing this forum for a couple weeks, reading every intelligent thread you can. Also the DIYMA forum. There you can learn a lot. Before you ask a question, try a search on the forum to see if a similar question has been asked. The less repeat questions you ask, the more people will like you. And you need people to like you to get help.

The number of watts an amp puts out has nothing to do with what size subs it can power. Any amplifier can power any speaker so long as it doesn not excede to ohm load rating. I recomend buying an aftermarket cd player. You can easily find a used one on here fro under $100

If you want to run 2 subwoofers on a mono amp you need to learn about dual voice coils. Having a DVC subwoofer allows you to run the subwoofer eiter parallel or in series yielding different ohm loads to best suit your amplifier. You are most likely goin to want to find a 1 ohm stable amp and buy 2 Dual 4 ohm subwoofers. This will allow you to have a final load of 1 ohm to get the best performance from your amplifier. When buying/looking make sure you do no take into account the max watts. MAX has nothothing to do with the actual performance of the equipment and you should only focus on RMS power

After you pick an amp you also need to buy a wiring kit consisting of

fuse hoolder

most likely 1 guage wire(4 guage may work)

rca cables

remote wire

The box is also a factor you did not take into account. If you have any skill with carpentry you can easily build your own box out of MDF. If you do not think you can do it there are plent of people on here who can build one for you

No Trey you helped a lot.

I also have a friend who is helping me out.

I will look over the forums before I ask anymore "stupid" questions.

I already have one "12 dual 2 ohm Kicker L5 that I picked up for $100

My friend is helping me build a ported box and I just need an amp and all the wire stuff.

I have $150 left from an amp and do you recommend any particular one for that price?
