yeah my name is stupid
I am 21 and I have no money. I still live with my parents but I would like to go to school this fall and move out. I have 2 years completed at a community college and I am ready to move on...but I have no idea how to pay for it.

I had a job from the time I was 17 until last month...so about 4 years. They laid everybody off except about 2 people so it is not my fault in any way.

I got hurt in the fall and have a lot of medical bills that my insurance wouldn't cover. I have not been able to pay them yet because of losing my job. I am about to start getting about 250 a week from unemployment so that will help a little.

I also have credit card debt, between credit cards and medical bills I am around 3500 in debt. Very hard to pay off. I also need a car, I was thinking a car for about 6000 should last me until I get out of school. My current one is in its final days.

Basically I need about a 10,000 dollar loan outside of the money I will need for school. What options are available for me? I am working on my FAFSA thing but it won't be enough money.

I tried getting a unsecured loan for that 10,000 but I was denied by my bank that I have been with for 3 years.

How do people with no money pay for college? If I could get a cosigner on that 10,000 dollar loan I could pay it but once I started school my unemployment would stop and I would be SOL. I have no problem on taking debt that I need to pay back once I finish school, I will finish and I am in a good field. I just can't pay now.

Sorry this is fragmented and confusing but I have a lot of information to get out and I don't know of a good way to do this because I am a poor writer.

in your case you will have to mayb turn to your family for help.. banks will turn u away one your age and your past history .. sorry bro u will have to get a job and just mayb 2 jobs and go to school at night or suffer for a year or 2 .. save and oh yea take the bus or ride your bike. life ***** but u can allways say to your self your not the only one that is fu cked over. u have a computer to use right now so your better then some people out there. u might have to sell stuff u need money and the only way to get money is to make it .. any way u can i guess. noooooo dont sell your body for money u can do better lol. take it one thing at a time there is only so much u can fu ckin do bro

holy crap cc debt at 21? /yourself or find a new job screw trying to get a loan just to buy a new car and go deeper in debt that's retarded. maybe sell crack? go on personals sites and act gay to old men get them to send you money for a plane ticket to go blow them but just keep the cash. there are lots of ways to get money sometimes you need to get creative.

hey, to those saying i shouldn't be in debt. it is 80% medical bills, the credit cards wouldn't be an issue if it wasn't for those. I have been a full time student for 2 years, and I worked all that I could. I was in school and working full time for a while...just not wanting to do that again. FAFSA thing has never done much for me because my dad makes more than that but this time I'm going to try to put my moms income in there because it gave me a choice. Hers is like 2k or something for the year so I'll see what happens.

I'm in debt because of medical bills. I can't just write them off and I need to pay them NOW. I'm getting calls left and right and I know its hurting my credit.

What kind of student loans are there? I tried to research it but its confusing. I KNOW some people go to school and live near or on campus on just loans and little bits of aid.

Not having a car isn't possible. I live 10 miles from the nearest grocery store and over an hour from school.

Oh, and I live in Michigan. Good luck getting better than minimum wage here anymore. Factorys are all laying off. Thats what happened to me.

just looking for a path to recovery. I know its bad to be in debt and I should have saved but who ever thinks that even when they pay health insurance they will end up with all these bills? I haven't blown my money on car audio stuff or anything like that, its been over 2 years since I bought anything like that and I paid in cash

yeah I could get two jobs and pay everything off and save for school and a car...then graduate when I'm 50. I need to get it done and over with so I can get on with my life

well bro u need to stop and take alook at how thing are now.. u need money u will need to turn to your family or friends. u have to do what ever it takes.. it might take a few years sorry but thats the only way.. or less u can go to school make alot of money and pay things off but u have no car and your up late talkin about how you need money. your on a car audio sit ya know mayb u need to seek help .. im doin my best

are you saying I need mental help? wtf

I ask this on yahoo answers and this is one of the few forums with a general board I'm registered on where I could get reasonable answers.

I am planning on milking my unemployment for as long as I can, it is more money than I would make at wal-mart or mcdonalds or anywhere like that. I am up late every night. Why do I need to seek help?

...or do you mean money help?

Basically thats what I want to do, borrow money to pay back AFTER college. I know I will finish and I KNOW I will be able to find a job. I look at job postings all the time for what I'm going into. I'm not worried about paying back after college. Just how do you get those kind of loans?

basically, how do kids coming out of high school move out and go to school? I just don't understand. I know they don't have all that money saved up.

oh and I'm not trying to go against what anybodies saying, I'm just tryin to figure all of this out. I guess it wont be done over an internet forum. I am well aware that almost all of you are older and wiser than me when it comes to money

I understand your situation. I was going to school and employed with the school district when I was 20 i was rear ended on the way to work. I was messed up real bad for a while. The med bills and credit card bills that I could no longer pay were scary! I moved back home ( i didnt want to) and went to physical therapy for a yr or so. I ended up trying to become a bodybuilder because I liked working out so much as a result of pt. I went back to school at 22..... It will all work out. It just takes time and patience.

Have you looked into grants? Good luck and hang in there.. Bassman

why were you laid off? have you talked to unemployment about going back to school. like not hear say from people that think they know all the ins and outs of unemployment but an actual representative there?

im asking because i got laid off two years ago and the state is paying me unemployment + tuition to go to school as part of a retraining program. unemployment has many programs for unemployed people that most people know nothing about. seek info from them. sometimes its tough cause frankly not every unemployment employee even knows what they are talking about but some of them do.

good luck

Well, I was laid off because the company is down to having almost no work left for anybody. Michigan + factory = fail.

Michigan has a program called no worker left behind to retrain people, but it is only valid for community colleges. I have taken everything transferable towards my degree at a community college. They do me no good at this point.

trust me there is more than just that program available. they are adding them everyday now.... the program i am is in called TAA. its for factory workers that have lost their job to foreign trade. look into it, you might qualify.

im lucky because my community college has been certified so that all classes offered there transfer and they have university partnership programs where you can take classes there but your degree would be from another college (kent state, ohio university, bowling green, and about 12 other ohio schools)

but again keep looking. some of the info and programs available is tough to obtain but its there.

Hey I just looked up that TAA thing. I don't think I would qualify because my work hasn't been outsourced. Its just stopped. It was a lot of odds and ends, only a little bit was car related. It is also a really small business that is barely on the map

also, it don't see anything about real colleges on this

"Training: Eligible workers may receive up to two years of classroom training in a program that is designed to lead to employment upon completion. Vocational and technical training, on-the-job training, and remedial education are examples of other types of training available."

How did you qualify? Looks like a pain. Thanks for the heads up though
