just curious if anyone knows any company or individual that mods amps? when i say mod i mean drop impedance, beef up electrical, etc.

dropping impedence is you, backing it up with proper electrical, is you....

what most modding is, is having them changed to handle more input voltage.

well, will your manufacture 'warranty' if you mod it, and two, do you have 16-18v to do it??? If not, your gaining nothing..........

The modds can be upgraded internals like what snoopdan did changing out resistors.But making a 1000watt do 2000watts is going to cost more than just buying a 2000watt amp.IMO mods aren't cost effetive enough to justify doing it.

But if you realy want it done I know of someone and can PM you his number.

heres what im looking to do, i have a rockford t20001bd running it at 2 ohms. i want to run it at .5 ohms but it wont take that load. i can get it 18 volts easy with an eclipse 8v with the additional 8v box to equal 16 volts input

You are thinking of the wrong thing there buddy.

When speaking of input voltage of 16-18v, it's speaking of actual battery input voltage on the positive of your amplifier. NOT Pre-out input voltage from your RCA's...

If your going to sell it its not worth doing the mod.They run usually between $300-500 to mod an amp.

And two 8 volt batteries only gets you 16v but they will charge at 18v.

i misunderstood... thanks for the correction ngsm i can get that kind of regulated voltage with my ho alternator and 3 yellowtops. thats no problem. so modding isnt even worth my time?

If you run those YT's at 16-18v for very long your going to fry'em.You need a 16v bank of batteries if your going to run higher voltages.

How.

It's not worth it. You'd need TWO separate electrical systems. You vehicles stock electronics and wiring will not survive on extended use at 16+ volts...
