basically, i got the shaft from the guy that sold this thing to me.
it's an american bass vfl 150.1 sold to me as brand new. when i got it, the box was beat to shit.
i hooked it up to make sure it worked, and it did. i only tested it for a few seconds, then boxed it back up until it was time to install it.
when i finally got around to installing it a few months later, it was overheating pretty badly. eventually it fried a couple of the fets.
the guy i bought it from was informed of the beat up box and the overheating. he agreed to split the cost of repair with me.
i sent it to AB's repair facility and had it fixed. it was somewhere around 150 bucks. the guy i bought the thing from gave me the runaround about my money for a couple of months until i gave up.
now, i've fried the same fets and have to do something to wth it. i know i'll never see money out of the guy i bought it from. even though he's supposed to be a reputable member on several forums (and i know he's not having money problems as i've seen him on other forums buying equipment and such).
is there anyone here that works on american bass amps? i don't know that i want to put another 150 or so bucks into fixing this thing. i already have, including the first repair, somewhere around 620 bucks into it.
if i can get it done cheaper, i will. if not, i may just throw it in the f-in can.
btw, my car is a 94 gp with a 98 chevy venture 145 amp alt, dual 1/0 big three upgrade, everstart maxx primary battery and an everstart maxx marine secondary battery. i've never had a problem with nay of my other amps.
i'm currently running an aura rpm 2300 and an aura 4200 for my three way front stage, to give you an idea of what other power i'm drawing
