MM4000 or 2 AQ2200s= big difference or no

Cheap Class D power amplifiers will definately help battery and alternator sales..... I wonder if they are "in cahoots"?

Definitions for 'In cahoots'

If people are in cahoots, they are conspiring together.

Eh, I knew it was something like that.
I'm stuck at trying to understand why people talk about SQ in high powered, multiple woofer setups. Obviously the objective is to be loud. But sq should be irrelevant. Your talking making sure everything is well balanced and in phase. Just get loud and sound good should come with the proper enclosure.
Bass is only a small part of SQ, it is more so a part of SQL... SQL is really just a decent sounding but LOUD setup... Won't win many SQ trophys with an SQL setup... Well depending on who the judges are you might... .LOLZ

God damn, are you always full of shit and trying to blow maxxsonics smoke up people's asses?
Do you even know that you're defying the laws of energy by saying that the MM4000 will draw a lot less amperage than most 3000 watt amps? Sorry, but you can't get a continuous 4kw+ in a car by drawing less than 300 amps...next thing I know, you'll be telling me the gp3000D does 20kw while drawing 5 amps.
efficiency has alot to do with it and alot of 3kw amps out there are very inefficient where others such as stetsom and AQ are very efficient. and i can do math , at 100% efficiency 300 x 12 = 3600 watts. the mm even with its faults was very efficient at making raw power on lower current whereas a similar hifonics xxv amp rated the same drew more current than the mm4000 did.

if he already has the mm4000 why should he bother drawing more current to get at best 800 watts more? and spend more money doing it? the aq's are definately the better built amp IMO but he has the autotek already.....

I say stick with the Autotek. But no the AQ's aren't better built, I would say the build quality is the same, the difference is in the power produced. Efficiency should be a little better using the design that is in the MM4000.1D vs the design in the AQ2200D. MM4000.1D is self-oscillating, all N channel outputs, whereas the AQ2200D is older design, not self-oscillating and I believe not as efficient.

If I am wrong about whether it's called self-oscillating or not someone correct me but that's what I call it...

and i still wanna see the proof of 2 aq2200's doing 5500 on 12 volts lolz. and you say i am blowing the smoke.........
I agree that's blowing smoke.....

It may have clamped that way, but I bet it was nasty, gnarly square wave coming out of there.....

That still seems pointless though if you really look at it. Like you said about the judging of SQ, its so dam unparalleled its stupid. I say go for all out loudness to the ear and see where that winds up. If more SQ is desired then less power should be used.

I say if you can afford to have both, and have enough parking space, build both. An SQ build in one car, and a SPL build in another.... It's all supposed to be FUN remember! SQ can be fun too... I used to love my freinds Grand Am with all kinds of nicely placed mids and highs in it and like 5 amps in the trunk... music was amazing sounding in that car, the staging was awesome.... But the 2 18" Cerwin Vega DVC's (1990 models?) in a ported box in the trunk just ruined all of that.... hit really hard though... it hurt sitting in the back seat...

Truth.

That much bass kinda kills the SQ factor IMO. But sq is different to everyone.

Well i dont want to get to crazy with sub amp current draw where as Im gonna be runnning 1500+ watts of mids and high power. Granit yes like TnT Sounds said I do have the electrical to back around 7k i just want to be able to sit and play loud/ clean and for a long a pretty decent period of time without idling up.

But as of now im gonna keep my mm4000. It should push 4 L7 12s fairly hard i should think.
