MM4000 or 2 AQ2200s= big difference or no

While I think the MM4000.1D is a good amp, I think you would get substantially more power from 2 AQ2200D's. But they will draw more current, so your electrical has to be good for it.

Whoever said 5500 watts on 12V setup from 2 AQ2200D's.... Hmm maybe if you count clipped nasty sounding output as watts, which a clamp won't know the difference, you have to use a scope, and a clamp, and a voltmeter to get right. I think 2400 x 2 would be more likely, and that would have to be on a healthy 14.4V system. No way the MM4000.1D will do 2400 x 2 @ 2 ohms.... Even bridged @ 2 ohms. I would expect more like 2000 x 2 max from that amp. Any more and you might smoke the IRFP360LC outputs.... There are 16 of them, 8 on each channel. BUT. I don't know if the extra 800 watts or so will give you a 1 dB. Maybe. I am not good with "deee-beez" math so I couldn't tell you....

Well in that case, just keep the MM4000.1D. It's a nice amp, really. Though do not mount it to a subwoofer box if there is anyway in hell you can avoid it.... I have repaired TONS of those amps, and every single one had mosfets falling out of the amp when I took the clips off.....

Well then my question to everyone from there is has anyone owned both and could tell a difference in the sq of the bass quality? Like is one amp more punchy than the other and what not? I know that my aq2200 i ran for a little while was pretty punch and clean in the environment that it was in. That will kinda help out my decision a little better if one is not gonna be a little louder than the other.

And no it will not be mounted to the box. I will try to make a mount for it that is less prone to vibration than the rest of the car.

Back to work yet Chris?

No difference, class D amps produce the same sound. Both have output fets and transformers. Thats just like people saying the RD D9 sounds better than the 40.1. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Chris could tell you about that.

LOL, it's 9pm here... I stopped at around 8pm.

but no you can have different sounding class D's, not all are created equal, it's just that most people can't hear the differences. Certain types of music might make one sound better than the other too, but change the music and the one that sounded better now doesn't sound as good as the other... power supply makes a difference in Class D's.... More is always better for bass.... Gives you that punch at the beggining of each sine wave to make it sound better to most people.

I think the headroom you would gain with 2 AQ2200's would make it sound better yes, more power than the MM4000.1D but you don't have to turn it up all the way anyhow.... But I thought you were talking about deeebeez scores not SQ? You can't really have both.... Most SQL systems could have a lot more SPL if tuned differently and most SPL systems could have a lot more musical quality if they were tuned differently... it's two different worlds and I honestly think it has more to do with speaker placement, and tuning frequency than what amp you run.....

Either way you are fine. But if you don't want the MM4000.1D I am sure someone will, especially if it's BNIB.... It's a great amp.

i wouldnt mind a pair, just cant afford extra electrical haha

Eh, I knew it was something like that.

I'm stuck at trying to understand why people talk about SQ in high powered, multiple woofer setups. Obviously the objective is to be loud. But sq should be irrelevant. Your talking making sure everything is well balanced and in phase. Just get loud and sound good should come with the proper enclosure.
