mixing wire and the squeaking noise that has the audio man stumped...

I have 12 gauge running to the box of my 13dub 7 and 10 gauge to one of the positive and negative inside the box and an 8 gauge jumper. could that be a problem?

also, my sub is still making a squeak noise... could it be the amp? JL blames the amp, local audio guy blames box, (thats impossible the front baffle has 30 screws,, yes 30 screws and glue,,, and thats just the front baffle) and another local audio guy blames the wires inside hitting the magnet....

ok anyway....

its Napa 10 gauge wire.... could that be a problem? It sounds like something is rattling in the box,, the 10 gauge wire has a coating around it, but its a very stiff wire with only like 6-8 threads of copper..... Probably not the best for the woofer.... So should I just get some 12 gauge real wire and fix that?

Mixing wire size would not cause this. Your wire size is fine. 30 screws in the baffle tells us virtually nothing, but its still almost definitely not the box. Apparently all your local audio guys are retarded.

How many times will you make a post about this and have me tell you the most likely culprit is voice coil rub? How did the "JL guy" rule this out, presumably, over the phone?

Went to an authorized JL dealer... he says its the box....

Went to another guy who has nothing to with JL... he says "it's not a woofer problem"

Have you tried playing the sub on low power free-air? just to get a look at it in motion and if the noise is rub etc.
x2 theres so many ways you can start to troubleshoot this and rule stuff out. your just being lazy it seems. quit looking everywhere for people with an answer and do it yourself
