MINI cooper wall worklog

i didnt design it, but a kerfed port isnt the answer.

vj, take a 45 deg angle piece of birch and stuff it in there, so the width is uniform throughout the port. i have designed one like that on a removable port, and it sounded realy **** good

either would work would it not?... i just figured a kerfed wall would be that much smoother than the one with the 45 so why not?

Better more then too little screws? Why are people complaining because he used few too many screws? He's just being overcautious, plus he said he's going to fill em anyways. Second box I seen with interchangeable ports.

the 35hz port in the box:

more screws cant hurt....if thats what you're saying
It can when it starts to weaken the wood. Plywood, just like MDF, has layers that you're driving the screws into. If you put a bunch of screws in between the same layers and if the screws are only a few inches apart, it is very possible to start to split the layer. Even if it's not a blatant split, it is still putting pressure on the layers of the wood at the ends.

There really is no strength increase from having two billion screws and it only has cons -- it's heavier, takes way more time, and it costs more. All that and it doesn't make things any stronger... I will never understand the point.

lol i dont know why i use so many, but ill try to keep it to a minimum from now on //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

well, turns out im not going to cover the headliner. the rip will be covered by the box, so when the day comes that i take the wall out and put the seats back in, ill cover it then. i just dont feel like covering it now. i need to resin the box then i can put it back in. i dont want my car smelling of resin for months, lol
