MidRange/MidBass 6.5s that like 250-350 watts @ 4 ohms???

Just like the topic says, i've done some searching around the forums (yes, some noobs actually use //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/search.gif.e79a63b2b580b39b282dff402646b704.gif ) but haven't really found any definitive ideas besides possibly higher-end Boston speakers?

I'm looking for a pair of 6.5s to go with my Aura RPM Stage 2 tweeters that will REALLY like 300ish watts @ 4 ohms, that will pound midbass down to 70hz but can run mids enough up to a comfortable tweeter point. The Stage 2 tweeters are pretty beefy. Again, just looking for the 6.5s, NOT a full component set. I'm planning an active xover so i dont need passive crossovers anyway.

Price range doesn't really matter, obviously the cheaper the better but i'm really going for something good to avoid having to do a 3-way set up, so throw out anything.

I'm thinking my best bet would be to get a pair of 6.5s that originally were a part of a component set, like just the woofers from a BA Z6 or a Pro60 set, or something like that. Maybe there's a good midrange driver not a part of a comp set out there though???

Diamond Audio's higher end can handle a lot of power. "Power Handling NOM/MAX: 200/400 watts

" That's the D9 set. The Hex set goes to 300w.

I'll check that out. Thanks for the reply... I know Diamond tends to get extremely pricey too, but if its right its right.

Also i forgot to mention, these will be running in my door, so they need to work well IB.

Yeah it's just that the pricy stuff tends to like the power. Morel Elates are also a good choice for up to 300w. CDT has a lot of sets that can go up there too.

Only Diamonds, the other's I have heard good things about. I heard a set of CDT's a while back, they sounded underpowered and flat to me.

And I have Boston's and they are great with power, My rally's are rated to 275w but only get 100 or so not, but I hooked em up to 150ish and they sounded 50x better.

Which BA set would you suggest that i could feed 200-300 without clipping/distortion/damage on the woof?

And how are the XXX 6.5 mids, infinite baffle in the upper midbass range, as in 500-2k?

The RC620 can be a great deal cause it's last years model and can be found on eBay. Those are good to 275. The Pro's are rated to 250 and the Z6's can go way up there 400+.

Check out the Seas Excels, Max Fidelity high Qts mids (there is a review of them in the product review section), Adire Extremis, Dayton Reference RS180S, Usher, Vifa, Peerless, Scanspeak, etc etc etc. There are literally hundreds of options there.

I found someone willing to sell me a set of the RC620 midrange with passive crossovers (no tweets) for $100 shipped.

Should i buy that or look further into the Midrange drivers you showed me Squeak?
