People worry WAY too much about the impedences of them. It honestly is hard to tell the difference by ear. In fact, many people have dropped 8ohm speakers in to replace their current 4ohm speakers, and noticed no difference in volume output at all.
As for the Extremis; yes, they can be ran IB. They too were designed for home audio.
4ohms, 8 ohms.. it's just 3dB diff. Hard to tell by ear.
