metalhead needs a ported box design for a 12" Pioneer TS-W3003D4

Ok. So what do people tune to if they listen to metal and rap? I may get the urge to show off every now and then so what changes can I make besides make the box bigger since it’s already built?

Amp subsonic filter is only on/off on the amp so not much flexibility. Tomorrow I will cut the remaining 45's, sub cutout, port holes and cut the dowel for bracing. Probably won't fire it up until Wednesday.

Metal and rap are complete opposites so you're going to be compromising either low end or transient response. You could tune a little lower like 34-35hz. That would require a longer port and would make your current box smaller. Stay with what you have and if you don't like it, sell it and build a new one. Wood is cheap. Just keep ssf on at all times and you should be fine. Just don't play any decaf with that box/tune.

I can make 3” I/D mdf rings that are removable outside the box if I wanted longer ports without changing the airspace. I’m going to see how this one sounds first

Finished 45's and bracing dowels. Just waiting for neighbors to be gone so I can make some jigsaw noise. Doing this in an apartment ***** but gotta do what you gotta do. Made a booth in the hallway for cutting and to keep the dust confined to one area for easy cleanup.

I've made a lot of boxes in apartments and townhouses lol. I just make all the noise in the middle of the day, fuck it lol. I use a 9x12 plastic drop cloth to catch dust and debris and 2 short barstools for my sawhorses.

My new jigsaw made quick work of the sub and port cutouts. Need to round off the ends of the ports and install them. Alex caulking after the glue dries and its finished. Gonna leave it bare wood for now no one is gonna look at it
