Ok Im running 4 15in dc lvl 3 subs. Im getting ready to build a box so I call the local

lumber store and they don't carry 1in mdf, So I called Lowes and Home Depot and they don't carry it either. So should I build my box out of 3/4 and then go back over it again with more 3/4mdf?? Or should I buy 1/2mdf and do the same thing...

Or how would yall make the boxes walls at lest 1in thick? What does that extra 1/4in

really add to the structure of the box vs just a 3/4in box??

Like I could double the side where the subs mount to make it stronger so it would

support the subs better I dont know:confused:

All the boxes Iv ever built were 3/4in mdf

Good bracing will do, IMO. 1" MDF is pretty rare. If you're afraid, just encase it with another 3/4" layer.

3/4" MDF is actually pretty rare around here... only one Home Depot in like a 10 mile radius carries it.

I was planning on using all-thread to keep the flexing down
I say, use dowels, and glue them bishes on the inside... or if you have a router, make some nice looking square braces with crosses in the middle, or multiple crosses. I think dowels are better, though.

Oh, and BTW, you might want to kind of change the design of the box so that weight is distributed equally. This will help with flexing.
