Mcintosh problem

Hello all, I have a mcintosh MC440 I got from a friend of mine. I went to bench test it today and came across a problem. At first the amp powered up but sounded slightly distorted. I turned it off and checked all the connections then turned the HU back on. This time the amp made no noise but noticed the yellow light had come on...

Now this is all the amplifer does. I'm not familliar with Mcintosh amps so hopefully some is and can shed so light on the possible cause and even a solution to this problem.
