Mb Quart ONX1.1500D do rated?

if you want the new one get the onyx but its the same as the dsc according to mike at maxsonics and they are underrated amps they do rated on 12 volts and more on 14 usually 1600 rms to 1800 rms

Sorry for the late reply.

Yes, the ONYX amps do rated and in most cases, more then the specs reveal.

The ONYX are the Discus replacements but we have made upgrades and board lay out changes to improve THD & N, changes to better improve efficiency, thermal balance for concistant power through out the extreme temperature ranges caused by mounting locations and geographical locations.

The pre-amp has gone through a few minor changes to improve the linearity of the potentiometers and reduced THD & N.

There are also the obvious cosmetic changes as well.

We are selling 25% more ONYX then the previous Discus models and returns are also lower so it's working pretty well so far.

If your looking for something to run at 2ohm, forget the Quart. The 2000 does 1000w@2ohm so the 1500 is deff not going to. Guy talking about doing 250w over rated at 2ohm is crazy thats 33% more and aint happening.
This is a nicer amp that is underrated for the same price as the DSC2000.1D, and does more at 2ohm 40%+ more

almost bought one but 15-1600watts is plenty for me
Its not a secret that they do more than rated... they have been bench tested bro...

wait... this thread is fail by me.... I don't know what I was thinking 2 4 ohm DVC speakers to one channel wired in series is 1 ohm not .5 i dont know what I was thinking... been a busy last couple of days got my **** backwards... that means either way Im gonna get the 1500 watts at 1 ohm... now to decide whether or not to get the ONX or DSC.... Im kind of worried cause some say the ONX wont do rated... I know the rep said it would but its a rep..

On a side note why dont companys start making youtube videos of them bench testing their amps at 4,2,1 ohm... if they do rated or even more than rated then it wouldnt hurt.. only help I would buy one right then and there if i could see a bench test

No $hit bro

its not going to do 33%more at 2ohm period. At 1ohm the do maybe 200w over, which is 1700/1500= 13% BRO

Its not my fault you cant figure your ohms out, I recommended a better amp at 2ohm which is what you said

BTW I own a MB Quaurt DSC1500.1D and its a great amp!!

Compared to the Onyx i think they are the same, just appearance is changed so if that is the look you want and its worh $50 then get it. I think its a no brainier to get the DSC. I plan on using mine on 2x 1243D Type R's and should be the perfect amp to get ~800W to each.

I just hooked up an Audiopipe 1500D last night in my girls car and it sounds pretty good also, deff has power and is alot smaller then the MB Quart I have

i have clamped mine and it did 1400 watts at 1.91 ohm(discus 1500). i have had it since january and never had a single issue with it. will get another to strap it.
Speedy: Your argument is void... Nice edit btw

What is the status of the ONYX 2000.1d?

I had heard there was a plan to build them but, haven't heard a release date.

I wouldn't think it would be a problem to stuff their guts into an ONYX chassis with same changes you mentioned.

Actually, in series it would be 16 ohms //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif in parallel it's 1 ohms.

I'm glad you know how to use a wiring calculator to correct me thanks but your wrong.. 2 4 ohm dvc subs in series(series/parallel) is 4 ohms not 16
