MB Quart Amps

The only way a $500 - 300w RMS amp will sound better than a $150 - 300w RMS amp is when you tell your friends you paid too **** much and they all think you are cool. Watt for Watt they will both sound the same. Amps do not change the sound it amplifies the signal and passes it along.
Reliability of parts and customer service experience is the only difference.
If you seriously think amps can not "sound different" then you have a whole lot to learn.

I dont have a way to proove it by just telling you something but ...just that statement is hard to beleive......unless you have heard every amp ever made then how could you say there is no difference and they all sound the same?

I have heard many many amps....they dont all sound the same. There is a reason a pyramid will never be the same as a Arc Audio or a Zapco .....

Without reading all 4 pages of this thread, I'll just say I own an RAA4200 and I love it. I bought it as part of my first system and even though I'm not running it right now, I'll never sell it...

I can appreciate your feelings and welcome debate as long as it stays an adult conversation. I am not trying to start a pissing contest.

Pyrimid....I did say flea market amps are out. I am only talking about good to average quality vs high end amps, not complete crap. lol

No, I have not listened to every amp made. I wish that to be true, but it's not even close. I have listened to my share which is all i have to base my feelings on.

Maybe I should explain my opinion a little more.

My question for you is have you heard many many amps on the same set up? Same car, same speakers, same processing?

For the average listener and even an advanced enthusiast, a MB Quart DSC4125 sending 125w x 4 or 500w x 2 in the same car with the same set up would sound no different than a Zapco REF1000.4 unless you hear one costs $700 and the other $150. Phycoacoustics would come into play so it has to be a blind test to be fair.

I am saying a well built amp that does rated will not sound any different than a well built amp that does rated costing 70% more to 99.5% of the population. Someone competing for a world championship in SQ being the exception. The average enthusiast who just spent 3X's more on an amp has already convinced themselves it is going to sound better before they even listened to it. I have done it and I still do. My Breitling is better than a Timex even though they both tell time because I want it to be better. My mind was made up before I bought it that it was better because it cost more. Ask my wife and her $200 watch is perfect for her, does it's job, looks good, reliable, etc. Who is right? Me of course. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif So I understand the amp argument, but just do not agree with it.

Quality of parts, customer service, reliability, buying experience, etc is why you would spend more, but the job of an amplifier is to take a signal and amplify it and that is all. A good/decent quality amp of good/decent build quality will NOT change the sound of the signal going out unless it has some sort of digital processing to do so. That would make it an amp as well as a processor.

Like I said I am open to being proved wrong, but I don't buy less expensive amps because I don't have the money to spend more. I buy from personal experience and the best bang for my buck. I spend my money on items that do make a difference and anyone who has listened to my set up would not be more impressed if I was running a $700 amp they would just think I had too much money. lol

I agree with what you just said.....the original statement was too vague and sounded like so many people who say that......I am not wanting to argue with anyone.......now that you added to the old statement its more acceptable....and sensible

I am lazy and don't like to type more than a sentence or two. LOL.
