MB Quart Amps

I might have missed this answer somewhere in the forum (I did look, however). But I'm looking into getting a 4 channel amp to power some MB Quart speakers. I thought it would be logical to pick a MB Quart amp. I really don't know which brands are considered top quality as far as for amps go. Please direct me to the best quality amp I can buy if MB Quart is a crappy amp manufacturer. Gracias!

The MB Quart Discus line of amplifiers is good, a lot of people here run them and recommend them all the time, especially the DSC4125 (4 channel amp) and DSC2000.1D (mono); MBQ is hard to beat for the price.

There are many other brands that very good, however - Audioque and Sundown are two more brands that are at the top of the list.

And just to get this out of the way, Matching speaker brands and amplifier brands is purely aesthetic - it won't give your setup some magical boost in quality, no matter what any one tells you.

I'm interested in getting the 4 channel as I've seen the positive reviews on this site. Just wondering if the MB Quart DSC4125 will sound just as good as the Esoteric Audio E7152 I have. Basically want good sound quality with more power

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'm glad to hear that MBQ amps are high quality. I want good quality and dependability but I also want a good price. I thought about JL but they were quite up there in price! I don't need more than 500W RMS@4ohms. The JL's pricing made that difficult for me as opposed to MBQ. I appreciate all the help, y'all I'm gonna check out those Audioques and Sundowns!

I was looking at the MB Quart DSC450 for myself, but I noticed the HP filters only go down to 10kHz. If you need a HP for mid-range, you'd have to use an additional x-over.

I just bought my MB Quart DCS4125 so I havent really been able to say how good it is, but I know it was a great buy! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I'm rather new at this. What is the purpose of a High Pass filter? I guess that is what HP filter means.
I looked at the specs on that MB Quart DSC450 again and it looks like I misread the HP filter range. The HP filter goes down to 10Hz not 10kHz. Most people can’t hear much below 20Hz, so 10Hz is a really good range. This amp is really cheap at $100 too.

A high pass filter removes lower frequencies from the signal entering a speaker. Typically, the larger the speaker the lower frequency the speaker can reproduce without distortion.

MB Quart are better than Boss, Power Acoustik and whatever other flea market brands there are but they won't be near the quality of Arc Audio, Helix, McIntosh, older Soundstream, older PPI Art Series, older Orion, Zapco.

You get what you pay for in the end.

That is so not true i used to own a old school orion amp and i replace it with a mb quart raa2400 and the mb quart was way better than the orion in sound quality

Yeah, I'm seriously considering the MB Quart DSC 480. For a 4-speaker MB Quart setup consisting of MB Quart DSH 216 components and MB Quart DKG 116 rear speakers. As well as putting in two Rockford Fosgate P3D212 subs. And, of course, a second and third amp to power them independently. But here is the issue: the power coming from all of this is well over 1000W RMS. The MB Quart DSC 480 only allows a 4-gauge power wire. Reading up, I found that if I have a system with more than 1000W (don't know if they meant RMS or Peak), I need a 0/1 gauge amplifier power wire. I like the MBQDSC480. Will I have to change my choice of amp?? Not to mention, I don't even know what amps to buy for the subs?! Tough decisions.....
