MAX wire length

hi! i recently installed a sub in our car. are there any rules regarding MAX length of wire from amp to sub? i think mine is 20 ft. long. is that ok?

why 20 feet? it will work like that but seems like a major waste of wire.

You are talking about speaker wire right? If so cut it down....not only have you adversly affected the wires ability to carry larger ammoounts of current, and possibly causing your systems performance to suffer....you also wasted like 15 feet of wire or so.

i was still testing it and it destroyed my amp. need to have it fixed. right after i turned it on. protection goes up! bummer. any idea wat happend? i havent set my gains yet.

thats not enough info to determine what caused the failure. Could of been your install...could of been faulty equipment.

i bought the amp at some other place. i put it in my bag for transport. they took my bag and had it scanned. that was in an x-ray machine. x-ray wont damage circuits ryt?

Normal voltage in most cars is 13.5v or 14.4v. You did not have "too much power".

You're simply and idiot who turned up the volume all the way to see what would happen.

Here's what happened. You blew up your amp!.

Do some reading and go back to school (to learn how to spell) before you buy anything car audio related again.
