Material for good electrical contact

I'm thinking of, and will design and make soon, of making some things in mind to use with my install.....to create something better than what the aftermarket has to offer as far as car battery terminals go and so on. SO....with that in mind, what is some good electrical material that would work best?? I see some brass w/ gold plating on it such as MTX, Stinger, PG, etc. I also see some aluminum but not as popular. Other material I see is a silvery finish, but dunno the material type.
