Making a Powered Subwoofer.

Dayton stuff is generally reliable and does what it claims. You can see reviews on PA website anyway.

Dayton sub would be a good match. I don't think a car sub would do you any favors to buy new for the purpose but if you had an extra one floating around go for it (assuming the amp will drive that impedence).

These Credence new-old-stock woofers are budget friendly and I have used them as drop in-s to an old bookshelf with fair results.

hmm I'll probably go with a dayton sub then they make single 4 ohm and dual 8 ohms so I can get the 240wrms from the amp. wish I had the money to actually do it atm tho. Anyone have a sub they don't want anymore I can have lol?

When going from mobile to home audio you need to remember that home is much more efficient then anything mobile is. So you will get amazing results with much much less then you think.

True, my old Velodyne FSX-12 sub (was $1400 10 years ago) has a whopping 120w in a sealed cabinet and is more bass than I need.

the SA-240 is a helluva plate amp. it does an outstanding job. i've used them before with great success. i have also used a similar power model that i got from MCMElectronics.

i am also interested in the SA-240 plate amp if you don't find a buyer.

the sub/box/amp combo you listed won't perform as well as a SA-240 mated with a separate sub. i have used mostly car audio subs with them. my HT currently has a plate amp and a VEGA-124. any decent 4 ohm sub will work well with the 240 plate amp.

side-by-side comparisons with the SA-240 and a custom enclosure for a car audio sub compared with the digital control velodyne showed us that while the velodyne is more accurate - the difference is subtle.

Yeah I know it's not as good as the 240 + a better sub but for my computer 5.1 it should be fine as a 10" 125 watt right? It's not really weak is it? My dad were making him a sub for his stereo in the basement with the 15" dayton classic kevlar sub. Here is my question for my dads sub box that were going to build what should I tune it to? He listens to mostly rock, jass fusion guitar type stuff. I'm thinking something high like 36-38hz for a nice punchy bass for rock.

im doing a HT setup right now, just got me some polk towers last night. got the daytona 240 and pioneer 521 from pe and newegg on black friday. ive got dustin, aka pro rabbit, building me a sealed box (birch with dark stain) for my extra 12" infinity kappa perfect

hopefully my first HT will be sweet.

That should sound really nice. Yea I'm thinking 36hz for my dads sub box were going to get him the dayton 240 amp and a dayton 15" classic sub prolly tune it around 36hz for (rock, jazz fusion type music.) I think the 10" 125wrms combo should work fine for my needs its just for my computer 5.1 in my room. Unless it's a really weak combo idk if anyone has heard it.

yea buddy ! ive been into many other projects for the last two years putting my custom powered sub on hold.i have been using a sony explode(seriously) for a while off of a 190w cheap plate amp.i originally had it in the box in my avy.since then,i have put the xplode in a small sealed box and its descently loud off of my yamaha reciever.im about to redo it with a 500 bash plate amp and another quality sub.but for what it is,it does wonders
