what does a larger magnet add to the sound of a sub? because my friend is bragging about his 350oz magnet or something in his PA MOFO. i told him that didnt mean anything, and then i started to realize i didnt have any reason behind what i said. thanks

just kick his *** and tell him he's an idiot //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blackeye.gif.66a1670f5aaf7f406e783a63e3387dc5.gif

850 oz motor? You realize that is 53lbs of ferrite alone?

When speaking of two motors, both with the same grade magnet and same sized gap the one with the larger motor will have a higher B-feild. If they use the same coil and gap height Bl ie motor force (one of the T/S's that determine many other T/S parameters) will be greater for the woofer with the larger motor.

But not all motors use the same grade magnets or the same gap or the same coil. Then suspension and moving mass along with top and back plate desins are very vital as well. SOme ocmpanies include top and bottom plate mass with the magnet mass as well...which is misleading. Some companies use Neo magnets where, even in lower grade, are stonger than ferrite (earth) magnets.

His woofer isnt all that great. Kinda loud, very inefficent, and it's sound is more like a fart than a tone. Kick him in the nuts.

Yes. Its tripple stacked, and about 11 inches diameter. There, you can see it there next to one of my Avalanche 18s. Kind of a crap pic, but it does the job.
