HEy guys, I am new here. After reading some stuff and looking at some subs I decided I wanted to build my own enclosure instead of buying. I am new to carpentry and never used a router before so I took my sweet time doing it right. I used 3/4 mdf and gorilla glue. The box contains 42 2in countersunk screws and 1.5in front. I filled in all the screw holes and also recessed the AV12 sub. It is exactly 1cb ft sealed. I am going to laminate it tomorrow with a flat matte laminate. I chose this route to be different, I dont like carpet. Any suggestions and comments are welcomed.

thanks!

Wow good job, good to see someone that actually researches before they begin a project.

Next time you could use cheap-o Elmer's wood glue, it will form a better bond between the wood because it will be chemical, rather than the physical bond that Gorilla Glue creates.

You did an awsome job man, give us a review on the sub!

Thanks guys, it is my first one so i wanted to make it simple. I have plans in the near future (home speakers). I only want to use half of my trunk so a sealed box was the best bet. What do you guys think of the laminate idea??

Thanks guys //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif So waht do you think about the laminate idea?? By the way I did seal it internally with GE silicone.

Well guys I laminated the box, after 3 hurs and $90 I didnt like the look. It looked like I bought it at Ikea. SO, carpet it is. I went to walmart and Joann's fabrics, NO good. Can someone in NY help me out find carpet?? Dont know where to go.

thanks

Ralph

No pics, sorry. I was so pissed I jsut chissled it all off. I dont like the look of it or formica. Looks cheap to me. IN the next few months I am going to build a new box and use 1/2 in maple wood on the outside and stain, thats they way to go for me.

thanks

Ralph

that should look nice, but maple is just a ***** to stain you would be better off oiling it. From what I've seen and what my advanced cabinet making teacher told me is if you don't do all the sanding perfectly the stain will look like shit.
