those cars can get loud, i hit low 140s with 2 sealed SQ oriented 12's in an 87 ***** am. even with the backseat out though, your hard pressed to get 4 15's in one even if they're small box woofers (strokers aren't)

the acoustics of the car make it so you get cancellation unless you have the woofers at the very rear of the car. its like a home audio subwoofer, put it in the corner and its loud, but in the middle of the room it sounds weak. a full wall would lower this effect, but is he serious? hes talking about adding a 2-300 pounds to his "sports car."

he would probably sound better and get almost as loud with 2 ported 15's, and could possibly keep his backseat and see out the rear window. either way, i doubt hes going to touch 160's. unless it angled up with the window, the box would probably have to be fiberglass. im working on a ported box for my 12's now and the most i can get (box is mdf) keeping my backseat and keeping the box level with the tops of the seats is 4.3 ft^3.

but yeah, tell your friend he couldnt handle 160 db daily, or even 155. he doesnt need 4 15's unless hes competing, and if he is, there are MUCH better cars for it.

150 DB is a 747 Jet plant 1 meter from the engine.

here is some examples of things you've heard in your life.

as you can obviously see getting from 0-10 isn't as easy as getting from 120-130, as this chart shows, thats the difference between a rock concert and a jet taking off.

4 15's will be loud, 160db, pfft, you're crazy.

if you had an amazing install, 6 18 MT's, and 12 orion 2500'ds, you'd be more like it, and you'd need probably 8 grand worth of power supply to get that shit even close to moving.

i hope you didn't bet tOOO much money.

also, if they're doing cars for magazines, they're probably good installers, i mean if that was even true..... but good installers doesn't mean good SPL installers, SPL is completely seperate from car audio IMO becuase it's all physics of your box, your eletrical, and squezzing that last bit of boom out of whatever you have.

not making things pretty with fiberglass and paint.

I dont think people understand how loud 160db is...The loudest vehicle Ive sat in was 2 18" MT in a box tuned to around 38hz...Hit about a ~156 I believe, and it was painful to listen to, literally. I say there is no way in hell he will hit 160...shit i would be willing to bet he would barely hit 150.

CRX, 155's can be done in a very awesome setup. Street A setup, but in a full bodied Camaro, with full interior, no 160's IMHO.

It is certainly possible for 4 Stroker 15s to hit 160. What makes it impossible for you friend is that it would take an Astro Van to build a large enough enclosure. It would not be a daily driver and would take an enormous amount of power. If someone can hit 160 with a single 10 then just about anything is possible. But you have won your bet. Two ported in 10 cubes is what I would do but if this guy wants to waste a Camaro by putting a wall in it. More power to him. I just want vids.

y is it "wasting a Camro" there beautiful and fast cars, my opinion, but the 10 cubes is for 2 subs? as soon as i can get pics and vids i will set it up when the car is done
