Mach 5 SPL15

I will say I saw the one snoopdan had in the cavy and it looked very nice, was already in the box so I didn't get to admire the backside. but still. I actually got to see it and I liked it overall. If I had extra cash on hand, i'd love to try one of any size honestly but i'd rather just have some put back so when/if a 15 did come out, i'd already have the cash to grab it up.

I know you were joking around. But at the same time, I'm sure you wouldn't turn 4 units away if they mysteriously showed up at your doorstep. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif
that depends haha.. if I never gave anyone my address and they did i'd be a little //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif .. but then i'd yea.. nvm. I'd be happy.

snoopdan did a 142.xx in the trunk of a cavalier off of 1500 watts.

I wish I had a TermLab...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

I find that kind of interesting, with there thermal power handling, I would assume like most other SPL type of subs, that they would not have good output unless they were getting a good chuck of power (2000w or greater). Nice looking subs, and the build quality is impressive.

I know SSA sells a combo with the SPL12/3000d but would a 1500d at .5ohm be a good match to the sub as well with a proper charging system?

I loved that proto and I was sad to see it have to get shipped out. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
I really liked where snoop lived, so many custom rides around there that I saw when I made a trip to his house. Good guy too.

You wouldn't buy one anyway, so what difference does it make?
i think you are misunderstanding what im saying. im not at all bashing you, your company, or your product. im not saying it isnt capable of making some serious noise.

what i am saying is that the average ca.com member thinks and bases their decision almost 100% on forum boners. the spl12 essentially has to become one. take a look at ngsm13 or lilmaniac. they test their woofers (lilmaniac does 12's ngsm usually does 15) in the same exact boxes every time. this gives a baseline if you will. now lets say lil maniac says "oh the mach 5 spl12 is .2db up/down from the dp12". these guys that wanted the dp so bad, will now look into the cheaper alternative, which would be your driver. why pay more when you can close to/the same/better than what you planned on buy, for cheaper?

denim has some info on the spl12, but just doing some quick glancing and searching i didnt find it. i think the better results need to be sifted to the top.

thats all im saying //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I have posted it multiple times in multiple threads all across the net when the SPL-12 was brought up.
i didnt find it when i was looking. lots of people wont even bother searching. why not dedicate a "results" section stickied to the top of the forum or something similar?

stuff like this is good. the hdc did a 143 in an explorer off about the same wattage (1 dd m1a on the more efficient copper coil). obviously the spl12 has potential when its doing great numbers in a trunked car, versus the current boner sub in an explorer that is known to get loud easy.

Of course. No need to explain yourself. Just busting your balls a bit, that's all. All in good fun //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Its actually Ok with me if the SPL-12 doesn't really "make it". It was fun to get it done, and the few who do get it seem to be happy with it.

Best,

Mark

I tried the proto on an Autotek MM1500 and a 5kw zenon amp, and the scores varied from amp to amp, but not all by that much. The main limitations to the test was that it was a MECA head score, the car had a stock power plant and single stock battery with 4 gauge wiring thru out the car. It was more to reflect a single sub daily beater setup in "spl mode" for burps. The enclosure was also a daily beater box set up for MECA amature street class (no resin, no tricky stuff) and on top of everything it was in a friggn cavalier - known to be piss poor for SPL...or SQ....or anything for that matter. I figured if I had all this stacked against the sub and if it performed then all the better //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

here is the video of it, not taken too long after "TheLow" stopped by. All one has to do is go to google and put in "snoopdan mach 5 spl" and the video shows up as first in the listing. So I dont understand why it would be hard to find more info out about it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

anyways, here is the link again on google to prove it - http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=snoopdan+mach+5+spl
