LPF: Where to set it?

Hi. My amp has a Variable LPF, 50Hz - 120Hz. With my past two subs, I never paid attention to it. I just left it at the factory setting (50Hz, I assume).

I just bought some JL W1's, and I am expecting them tomorrow. Should I screw around with the LPF settings? Any idea where I should set it at? What exactly does it do (I know the technicality of it)?

How do you like your music to sound? What kind of box are you going to be using?

That's hard to explain really. I like the low end, when it comes on strong, and carries out. Although when i listen to rock music, my P2 subs sounded like crap. But my cheapo Audiobahns sounded great with rock.

I have a Type 3 ported box.

It is kinda hard to set that if you like low end and still want punch in your music.

just set it at the highest and slowly turn it lower till you get the sound you want

I got mine set at 80, I prefer low end that punch in my music.
