is there a proper way, meaning with a dmm or something to setup the LPF on an amp? is is bad to have it all the way up? mine is at about 80%
YGPMturn it up until it sounds good. it's kinda funny because i just recently discovered mine was too high also. the higher that cutoff point if the more of those upper bass notes that subw ill try and play. only problem is that those notes will become increasingly more distorted and nasty and u let more and mroe go through. you need to tune iit with your ears on a 60Hz tone and turn it up until its as loud as itll go BEFORE getting very distorted. a little distortion may happen but a tiny bit is acceptable. the lower u have that cutoff the less those upper bass will get through BUT you're lower notes will sound WAY Better than if the upper ones are coming through and distorting.
i had mine too high and now that its down more, every note sounds sooooo much cleaner. sometimes it's better to cut out what cant be reproduced clean and stick with the clean notes..... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
that's exactly what i did when settin my crossover when i got my amp, the bass was awesome with the low notes(35hz-60 hz), and yeah that upper bass shit will disort easy and make your sub sound like pooturn it up until it sounds good. it's kinda funny because i just recently discovered mine was too high also. the higher that cutoff point if the more of those upper bass notes that subw ill try and play. only problem is that those notes will become increasingly more distorted and nasty and u let more and mroe go through. you need to tune iit with your ears on a 60Hz tone and turn it up until its as loud as itll go BEFORE getting very distorted. a little distortion may happen but a tiny bit is acceptable. the lower u have that cutoff the less those upper bass will get through BUT you're lower notes will sound WAY Better than if the upper ones are coming through and distorting.
