Lowering Voltage on RCA's?

Weird question, I know, but after blowing 5 brand new Clarion crossovers, which were my absolute favorites 20 years ago, I discovered that my RCA's are sending about 8.5VAC through the lines. A really cool Clarion rep helped me figure it out because I couldn't figure out why I kept frying my favorite old school crossover. Clarions apparently can only accept up to 5VAC from the inputs, thus my dilemma.

I'm using a generic Kicker LOC with zero output controls or any other niceties, so I'm apparently stuck at 8.5VAC. Is there a way I can lower the voltage slightly without obliterating the sound quality from the RCA's?
