Lower sub output after installing components and amp

I have a strange problem that I can't seem to figure out. I was running my stock components along with an RE SE12 - JL 500/1v2 with GREAT results. I installed some ID components and added an Orion XTR375. I ran new 4awg power and gound, since I was just using 8awg for the 500/1v2. Nothing has changed except the new addition of components and amp. Anyways, my sub output has decreased a good amount and I can't figure it out. It sounds very nice, just has lower output. I've re-checked all my crimps and grounds, swapped RCA's, etc. I even unplugged the RCA's except for my sub and still the same result. I can't think of anything else that may have changed. Has anyone a clue?

I just went ahead and reset my headunit and reset the gains with a scope and got it sounding even better than before. Very interesting though. I went ahead and turned the Power IC off and set my gains at vol. level 30 instead of 25 and got pretty good results.

I'm assuming you're running 2 separate RCA's from the head, whereas you were running only one RCA before?

The voltage dropped because the deck was supplying two outputs, instead of one.

The tiny power wire, and more so the tiny ground, and the fact that decks often overstate their output, and don't list that the output is often reduced if more than one RCA is connected, made you need to increase the input tolerance on your amps.

/When I refer to the "tiny ground and power", I mean the ones running to the deck. 4 gauge is plenty for your amps.

I thought the same thing but when I unplugged the 2nd RCA the results were still the same. I'm pretty sure the difference came from the Power IC being turned off. Strange, but when i turn it back on the preamps are sending more voltage. Interesting.....

That is odd. I have the 1000 slash, so I'll try to replicate it on mine.

I played with it some more today and a lot of my confusion was coming from having more midbass than I'm used to. After installing the ID's my whole system had a new and different sound including my bass. Sounds very nice.

? yeah, the deck doesn't divide the volts per amp.

If you added comps and it now plays lower chances are you are experiencing a cancellation issue? Make sure to check your phasing and also to check your crossover points. Running your comp crossovers as low as your subs will cause cancellation due to orientation...

It took a good while to get it to blend decently, still working on it. I can't wait to get another amp so I can run my 9887 on 3-way and change the ID's to active. I really think a lot of my frustrations are coming from the passive x-over network.

The amount of RCA's connected will not effect the preamp voltage. I was thinking something may have been wrong with my headunit, since the amp before this one went Bzzzt.
