Low Tuning

Livin Loud!
I learned here a while ago than the lower the tuning the louder to the ear.

so would a box tuned to 28hz noticiable louder(to the ear) than a box tuned to 34hz... same vb, same sub, etc?

will it be louder(to the ear) outside the car too?

if i open my trunk will the box with lower tuning be louder(to the ear) than the other? (not that i want to show off, i'm just triyin to understand how this works)

and finally would the lower tuned box played the higher bass frequencies as good as the other box?

thanks.

lower tuning does not automatically = "louder to the ear"
and yes, lower tuning will generally decrease performance at higher frequencies... enough to be noticeable? depends.
depends on what?

Paypal me $30 and I'll let you know after I get the higer tuned box built... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

I really just prefer the insane shaking I get on low notes...

If you learned it (to the ear), then why are you asking?

Depends on what frequency. You dont want (to the ear) the higher tuned box to play below what it was tuned to.

You tune a box to a certain frequency because you want that certain frequency to play louder than others, which is why SPL cars use 40-Hz when doing competitions. (to the ear)

I thought I put in a + after Hz. Oh well.

if u tune your box at a higher freq it will have more output at the higher freqs..then a low tuned box..but the low tuned box will have more low end authority

the common freq to tune the box at is 35hz..u have output and low end...if u tune to 30hz u have alittle more low end authority and alittle less output

the lower tuned box will not play the higher freq as loud as a box tuned higher..

its really up 2 u.....if u want more output and dont care much about sq tune higher..
