low rms 12s?

So your subs are say 300rms each so you want a amp that will do 600x1 to power them correct? If so then have fun clipping the hell out of the subs unless you turn that 600watt amp down. Now your 600 watts is a true 400watts. Thats why you get a 1000watt amp keep gains low and get a good clean 600watts.
Im confused. Why are you suggesting that an amplifier must clip its signal in order to achieve rated output?

Buying an 'overpowered' amp and then gaining its output down is called headroom, but headroom is not required to avoid clipping.
