Low pass/High pass on my amp

bump... i hear music from my sub i think too... my inner speakers have alot of bass in them too

anyway to get jus my sub to bass ? was thinking this low pass/high pass things are the problem

High pass filter = attenuates the frequencies lower than the crossover point and lets the ones higher pass through uninterrupted

Low pass filter - does the reverse.

Crossovers aren't brick walls, they have "slopes" of increasing attenuation - hence the 6dB/octave, 12dB/octave, etc. So a 12dB/octave crossover would reduce the level of the output signal by 12dB every octave from the Xover point. The higher the number, the steeper the slope.

Having "music in your sub" sounds like a crossover setting issue. Set your LPF to 80Hz and see if the problem persists...and fine tune your Xover so your sub just plays what it's supposed to play and isn't localized in the soundstage.

Guys what does the low pass / high pass and intelli Q do on my amp?what should they be set to?

i have an Orion 1200d
lowpass -- passes low notes, like bass.

highpass -- passes higher notes, like everything but bass.

for some things you might use a lowpass to pass midrange and bass to a 6.5" speaker, and a highpass to send the trebel to the tweeters.

the filters are not perfect -- if the filter is set to 80hz-lowpass, then 81hz would still be audible. 100hz may be as well. 200hz might also be audible. 200hz would be less audible then 100, and 100 less then 81, and 81 less then 80. but below 80hz, everything should be about equal (at least in what the amp can control).

there are two specs typically used to determine how much freqeuncies near 80hz are affected. slope determines how much 100, 200, ect are attunated. Q affects this as well (but only near 80hz) and also affects how frequencies near 80hz but slightly above are affected. a high Q can give a peak. sometimes this is used as a bass boost. sometimes it is used to smooth the response.

No, do not set the LPF to 30 or the HPF to 80 or whatever he said. Its the other way around, Set your LPF to about 75 or 80. Set the HPF to whatever your box is tuned to maybe a little bit less. But to get the music out of your subs you want to lower the LPF and increase the slope to "24db/oct"

Hey read the Parametric EQ setting tutorial on JL Audios website to see what Q means its a bit hard to explan, its basically the witdh of frequencys that are afeected by the bass boost. What amp did you have before the 1200D? Do you like the amp?
