Low Output

OK guys, I got me a 4 ohm Type R to put in the box and put it in and everything seems to be working fine now. The amp isnt turning off and is palying the subs good. My question is though how come when Im running the amp on full tilt the subwoofers play fine but then I cut on the low pass filter and the bass output just like completely disappears. Whats going wrong and is it good to play the subs without a low pass filter?? Also I got the wired down to a 1 ohm load so they are getting around 400 RMS but they still dont seem as loud as wen I first got them and was playing a 4 ohm sub and a 2 ohm sub.

Also If anyone knows the port freq of the DCVR12 box from kicker plz tell me because I might try to use it temporary so I get a ported box for these Type Rs.

Correct, But, you need to up that crossover to around 80hz-100hz depending on your tastes.

That's why all your bass are gone. You are using the crossover wrong.

agreed. sounds like you are turning down the crossover, not the subsonic filter.

ok well i tweaked kinda hard...i thought it said 25hz...but it was 250hz lol but I turned it down to around 60hz and the output didnt increase all that much...I just remember having the 2ohm sub and 4 ohm sub playing in the box because my friend sold me the two and didnt even kno they were different ohm levels and it would rattle everything but now that I got 2 4 ohm subs playing my trunk barely vibrates...They are wired down to 1ohm so they should be recieveing around 400 watts a peice which should be enough to at least get some mirror rattling going on.

Also do I need the subsonic filter on while im using a sealed box????

something doesnt sound right with your wiring. if you have one dual 4ohm type r you cant have it wired at 1ohm...only 2 or 8. if you have two dual 4ohm type r's then 1ohm is fine.

what do u mean by this:

you were running one 2ohm sub and one 4ohm sub at the same time? are you running one or two dual 4ohm subs?

yea see what happen was my friend bought a sub box with 2 12 type rs but one was 2 ohm and one was 4 ohm and he didnt know that and sold it to me like this and I found it and traded my 2 ohm sub for a 4 ohm type r so now I have 2 4 ohm type rs and I have it wired down to 1ohm load on the amp which from the stats say it should produce around 400watts x 2 for the subwoofers. But when I first bought the subs and box I was playing them for about a week before I found out the ohm difference and the 2ohm+4ohm subs were hitting harder than they do now with two 4 ohm type rs wired up. I dont even get half the bass that was produced with the 2ohm+4ohm setup.

It doesnt even hit harder than my first setup which was 2 JLs that were getting around 250 a piece.

Out of phase would mean that one of the sub would be pushing out when the other is pulling in, and it would cause massive cancellation. Try swapping the positive and negative wires for one of the subs. You could also have the coils in the subs out of phase with each other, some pics, or a diagram of how you have them wired would help.

Well my car is kinda in the shop right now getting this water outlet fixed but im pretty sure I wired them correctly... I got the sub coils wired from positive to positive and negative to negative with the wires running from the box hooked up respectively to the positive of one coil and the negative of the other coil.
