Low output to RCA, no speaker output from amp HELP!

I set up my system and i've ran into a problem. everything works except i'm getting no response from my sub, so i ran some tests. here's what i found:

remote line or wire from headunit to amp is sending a signal, and amp turns on with everything else

subs react when touching the leads with a AA battery, so the subs work.

amp is receiving full 12 volts from the battery

subwoofer is enabled (or rear output is changed to woofer) on my headunit

now what DOESN'T work is that the speaker output to the subs on my amp isn't putting out any voltage... which is probably why my subs aren't working, right?

also, i checked the voltages coming out of the RCA cables, which read .008v, and if i can recall correctly, aren't they supposed to be 2v?

i tried messing with the "woofer output" on the headunit and it made no difference...

i'm really confused on what to do, please help!

i know it's a pretty shitty system but i bought it all for $150.

Was your multimeter on the correct range?

Does your headunit have an "amp gain" option in your settings menu?

Are you testing the voltage of the headunits preouts with it turned on?

range was correct

there is an amp gain, with options reading "HIGH POWER and LOW POWER"

from the manual it says

"low power: VOL 00-30 (select this is the max power of the system is less than 50w to prevent damaging the speaker)

high power: VOL 00-50 "

testing the "preouts"? from that you mean the RCA outputs on the back of the headunit, right? sorry not all that familiar with all the terminology yet.

but yes, i was checking them when the headunit was on and playing.

Perhaps your HU pre-outs, yes the pre-outs are were your rcas connect to the back of the HU, are somehow busted. Not much one can say about this without seeing and troubleshooting it in person. Most likely an internal issue if everything is actually hooked up correctly. My hu says the same high or low, I keep it set on high because with these jvc headunits it just allows you to go up to 50 instead of 30. I think this is so that if you are using your stock speakers you use the low setting to avoid blowing them and high if you installed new aftermarket ones.

ah, so it's a physical problem maybe? something in the HU is broken...

this makes me sad //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
