okay i have an 85 monte carlo 2 12 inch re ses with a 1200d audioque amp

my original alt was 60 amps, but someone gave me an 80 amp alt. i was going to get a 140 amp alt that does 80 at idle which would cost me about $165 or should i upgrade my front batt(which is the only battery i plan on using) to a kinetik hc1400

eventually in the future i would like to add comps which will probably be another 300-600rms

If you were to go with a battery you should be able to fit an 1800 or a 2000 there with ease.

I have the same car. I plan on being a lot louder than 1200 watts but you can go to mechman dot com and they have about 4 high output alts that you could go with. I chose the 200 amp apt with an adjustable voltage regulator. I believe the least expensive alt is 150 shipped.

I think the big 3 and a hc2000 would be alright for that setup. Might want to go with another hc2000.

alt. batteries are sort of a "quick fix", cuz u need an alt to charge them. ur little alt will be trying to charge it, and it'll go out if you're putting that much strain on it. go with the alt, and then batt

If its a choice one or the other I'd go with the alt. Would def. want to add another batt asap

yeahh i think i'm going to see how bad the drop is with the 80 amp alt then move up to the 140 amp, then go to the bigger battery

all depends on how the funds are

yeah that's what i think my plan is, i have 2/0 gauge wire i think it might be 1/0 gauge but my 1/0 gauge ends are to small for it, but it fits in my fuse holder so i don't know. I'm going to see how bad the drop is with the 80 then go to mechman then a battery
