Loudness of 3 13W7s

hey man... Lemme put it like this: u will NOT be disappointed! I had three 13w7's in my nissan armada with a rf t3000 pushing them, and I gotta tell ya, they were LOUD!! But don't go large ported, they prefer smallish porter boxes. That's one of their strong suits - they don't need much space. I've read that they can handle 2000 CLEAN watts each, so that's 6000 potential watts you could push. Do you have that type of power?

Seriously, shit was breaking in my truck. No, they're not fi btl's, or dd 9500's (and I've owned both), but unless you're competing, you'll never be able to tell the difference in loudness. They were by far my favorite sub (along with treo ssx's). DO IT!! -especially if u can get a good deal on 'em. I paid $575 each 4 years ago, and they were worth every penny.

Sorry If it seems like I'm blowing jl, cause I'm not a fanboy, but they really got it right with this one.

-just my 25 cents...

Great idea! You've read that they can take 2000 watts, so this guy should do it. Right? Forget that that's 2x their rated power, and well above the 'warranty void' power range, you read somewhere they can take it so you recommend others try it.
You are so awesome.

Actually now I'm not an idiot in Mobile Audio.......I know why they give RMS ratings lol. Even if you go over the RMS rating you aren't producing much if any at all.

i am glad then you wont go off and give 2k rms to that then but i was more so referring to kowboy. bad advice

W7s are not designed to be loud, they are designed for SQ.If loudness is you goal, there are many better choices in subs.
actually if you read JLs website it says the W6 is geared more toward SQ and W7 is suppoed to be SPL.. not saying i dont agree with you but just throwing that out there.. also who the hell would want to mout those darn thing !!! grr i hate mouting W7s..

Yes when compared to a W6, the W7 does look like an 'SPL' choice. But truth be told, JL Audio simply does not make a true SPL sub. The W7 is an "SQL" sub. You wont find a W7 in any serious SPL competitor's car, that's just not their design intent.

JL stuff is great if you want to blow the money on it, but for the price, you can get better in SQ or in SPL. Although the W7 seems to be classified as a SQL sub, I still think there are better subs to be had at that hefty price tag. They are a great sub for limited space tho, that can't be beat. Last time I looked, a 12" wanted 1.75 cu ft at 32hz, which is pretty small for that level of subwoofer.

Edit: "there are better subs to be had at that hefty price tag" I should be a rapper.

No one is blowing there money on JL. I have decided to go with something else. I'm going to go with 2 15" DD 9515g and two of the new Orion 5000D since I already have one Orion 5000D and two DD 2512s

EDIT: Not going with a more SQ sub. I value SPL more, but still like some SQ.

Approx 2 cubes ported is pretty average for a 12" sub these days.

And no offense, but that would be a lame rap lyric. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Wow! Could u be a bigger f@g? I'm glad that you follow manufacturer recommendations so closely, but me and the other 99.9% of members of these car audio forums have experimented with their equipment. Maybe u should just quit reading the forums and just study the manufacturer websites. They'll answer ALL your questions. No need for the forums!
And... I ran a Goliath to my w7's for a couple months with zero problems, so I know they can take 5k or so. So unlike you, I'm speaking from experience. I don't know what jl did to you, but you can overcome it through therapy. As a matter of fact, maybe u should go back and finish middle school-it can't hurt! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
Woah lol calm down...So what if they handle 5k of power, but can they handle it on a daily basis for hour at a time? Probably not...but some do get lucky. That still doesn't mean to void a warranty. Some people may need it.

So wait, first you told us you "read" that they could handle 2000 watts. Now you want us to believe you actually ran 5000 watts to one. Even without knowing a W7 cannot handle 5000 watts (and they cant, uhm lol)... its pretty damn obvious you are lying. At this point I doubt you even owned any W7's.
And dipshit, again, you are telling people to run an amount of power on their $600+ subwoofer that would automatically void their warranty. Do you not feel any responsibility to control your own stupidity in public? I dont mean to be rude, but this board needs another liar like it needs another Cotjones.

you're right, and I don't have the energy for e-beef anymore. In my best Danny Glover impression: "I'm getting too old for this shit". It's what I get for attempting to contribute. Thx fellas.
