I personally own L7's, and i know for a fact it'd be a lot cheaper to get type-r's loud than an l7. They need big boxes, big power, and proper tuning, type-r's are pretty plug-and-play from my experience.

I would really like to hear an L7 sometime besides the (4) 8" L7s this guy had in his truck because I really wasnt all that impressed with them....they just didnt get very loud probably cuz they were only 8"s but I would imagine with 4 of them u could get it goin pretty loud....and this guy worked in a store that sold kicker stuff....he got all his stuff for cheap cuz he put all kicker in his truck to promote them to get a better price

and honestly I think if your putting 1000wrms to it that price really shouldnt be that big of a deal...I mean I would rather save up a little longer spend 2x the price on a good woofer and not worry about wanting to upgrade for awhile...and you already have the more exspensive of the 2...right now thats the only thing holding me back from buying another sub is I need another amp to go with it

Alpine subs over an L7? huhu that's funny stuff.

I have seen new 02/03 L7's for like 120 bucks on ebay from power sellers.
