Much more SQ than an SSX, but those SSX are sweeeeet

No they arent any cheaper lol... Im trying to find some pics that have been around of the new basket... I hate the looks but I guess they have there advantage...
Good lord

yes, I should have made my post clearer when bitching.

I wasn't suggesting the ssx was a better sq driver, I meant that it was good for what the OP wanted. I made a second post discerning my distaste for tc sound drivers referred to as sq subwoofers. They are far to intrusive for that. I personally feel they are more of a home theater based subwoofer. I'll also take this time to point out he OP doesn't want sq, he wants the sub to sound clean but that is only a small part of a sq driver.

Consider Dayton Reference HO. It's perhaps not the loudest, but SQ should be good. It's also one of the few 15 inch subs that works in a reasonably sized box (if I recall correctly, WinISD suggested around 1.5cu ft sealed). This one has more bias towards SQ, but with 15 inch cone area it should have good output too. Ideally you want to run 600-800watts to it. The only problem is that it's 4ohm stable, so you need a good mono block and then run it at 4ohms or bridge a _large_ 2-channel amp.

I would concider the new DC M2 Level 3... I have the old style and they sound great and I hear the new m2's sound even better and take a ton more power using similar cooling to the SA-12's. For the price compared to an HDC3 that's what I'd go with or a Level 4.
Or maybe some Treo's or some DD's
X2 on the treos the ssi sound soooo good

as much as people will bash it I will say for the lows the 3 slug 18" btl was probably the best sub I have heard.. if you are looking for mid 20s to upper 30s freq range then look into em.. they actually sound like a sub should down there and have a lot of force.. I had mine tuned at 30 so I can't say much for anything outside that range

tc subs are used in the wrong alignments alot..

they are ment for small sealed boxes or small low tuned passive radiator boxes..

the ssx is a overpriced woofer.. I've installed dd 3500 that impressed me and they half the price..

none of those highoutput woofer do well in that small a box..

the skar is a nice woofer but you will be apporaching it's terminal limits..

the tc 3000s are pretty inefficient..

I'd probably try the dc level 4 15s but your pushing it for a pair of 15s

you might be better off with one 18..

the AA mayhem is one hell of a beast..

the dc level xl is as well as the dd 9518..

atmos audio has a sick woofer out as well that's a bad mofo..

don't agree with your opinion of tc subs at all. Passive radiator my *** they have a sub specifically for them and that is the only one good for them. Small sealed maybe on the epics. I do agree as stated above they are really good for ht but that is also why they are good if you like a clean sounding sub that gets loud nice and low. BTW they don't make the tc 3000 any more maybe you should look them up again.

BTW: dd 9500 series is comparable more to the level 5 or maybe the xl m2 not just the xl.

The XL is comparable to the 9500. There where many drop in test done on CACO with some gaining some loseing but it was always very close
