Since im almost done with my SPL setup in my truck (JBL power 10, 1.25cu @ 35Hz) Ive decided that i want to do what i wanted originally lol a good SQ setup. Now i want the sub/subs must be super clean, tight, and accurate. I was thinking a sealed pair of 8's or a 12. Have 600 @ 2ohms or 1000 @ 1 rms to give. I can fit a wedge style box up to 2cu feet behind my seat. What u guys think would sound good? Will have a custom box built for it, looking to keep speaker price under 200 or so all together. Hoping i could find em used cheap //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

matt- JL wants like 300 bucks for a recone lol so ima pass

ge me- lol im good, have no idea what that is

I was more looking for suggestions of SQ sub for when ever i get around to it

tc sounds lms-r would fit nicely. it lacks on bass above 70hz or so though, so if you like high bass maybe not a good choice.

fi q would also be good, idmax comes to mind as well.

any of those would be pretty sweet sounding. if looking for used i have a tc3000 15 and an eclipse 3hp sub in the classifieds that sound phenomenal.

BTW, to the OP:

I recommend getting your JBL out of the 35 hz box and build a 25-28 hz box instead. It will sound like a wholly different sub, specifically, a SQ sub. High tuning swiftly lays waste to the notion of SQ. I like sealed boxes, but I LOVE loooow tuned ported boxes even better. SQ for the senses as it kicks you in the chest.

If you want loud and SQ, you're going to need multiple woofers. You'll blow through your $200 very quickly...

If I were in your shoes and wanted something that sounded good, got reasonably loud, and didn't break the bank; I'd do a single TC Sounds 8" woofer in a ported box tuned around 38hz. It'll make your friends think you have a pair of 12's and it will sound surprisingly good and crisp. Should be within your budget too. It seem counter intuitive, but a single TC 8" in your application is perfect.

TC Sounds used to make Eclipse woofers and I've installed a lot of those 8's in people's trucks...not one owner could believe the amount of bass they were getting from a single 8" and how good it sounded.
