Well after looking around at everything that is available today, some crap and some awsome amps. I came to a suprising conclusion. Best bang for the buck amps I have found that are built the way I like them with wicked powersupplies like the amps of yesteryear and that have massive dynamic range.... The criteria of the amps was simple for me.
#1 a rock solid 4 channel amp with 100wpc rms+. This amp must be able to double it's power into 2 ohm. The amp must be a brand name amp that matches the sub amp I chose and also physically the same dimensions as the sub amp.
#2 a wicked class D sub amp capable of 1000w rms into a 1 ohm load. Amp must be built to a standard high and above the rest.
On the search to sonic bliss in my tc... I was surfing the net looking for this type of amp and then POW I see on the screen a logo that gave me a HUGE grin on my face. Why did this logo give me a grin? Because I have used there amps in prosound applications since before I was allowed to drive a car. The name is CROWN which is part of the harmon group. They build some AWSOME amps. Turns out they built / co-designed the power series bass amps with JBL which is another member of the harmon group! Well anyways I took a stroll over to a local car audio rip off joint to check the amps out. WOW they are impressive looking! You can see the boards through smoked plexi glass which I love, just like the old us amps gear we all love so much! The bpx1100.1 had MASSIVE internals for a class d! wow everything about it said "I am a bad arse amp"!!!
So in short my choice was made. Going to order this next week a BPX1100.1 to power the three Image Dynamics #11x drivers.
To compliment this amp there is another beast in the power series for JBL and it fit the bill DEAD on for a killer 4 channel! It was also the exact same physical dimensions as the sub amp! HUGE!! *L* It is the PX300.4 which is cea certified to produce 123.5wpc rms at 4 ohm! sweet. Both amps are a massive 2 9/16" x 17" x 12 1/4"
Well looks like my decision has been made. Anyone want to argue there are better amps for what I am looking for and the money?
