Lots Of Research, Made My Decision On Amps!

Well after looking around at everything that is available today, some crap and some awsome amps. I came to a suprising conclusion. Best bang for the buck amps I have found that are built the way I like them with wicked powersupplies like the amps of yesteryear and that have massive dynamic range.... The criteria of the amps was simple for me.

#1 a rock solid 4 channel amp with 100wpc rms+. This amp must be able to double it's power into 2 ohm. The amp must be a brand name amp that matches the sub amp I chose and also physically the same dimensions as the sub amp.

#2 a wicked class D sub amp capable of 1000w rms into a 1 ohm load. Amp must be built to a standard high and above the rest.

On the search to sonic bliss in my tc... I was surfing the net looking for this type of amp and then POW I see on the screen a logo that gave me a HUGE grin on my face. Why did this logo give me a grin? Because I have used there amps in prosound applications since before I was allowed to drive a car. The name is CROWN which is part of the harmon group. They build some AWSOME amps. Turns out they built / co-designed the power series bass amps with JBL which is another member of the harmon group! Well anyways I took a stroll over to a local car audio rip off joint to check the amps out. WOW they are impressive looking! You can see the boards through smoked plexi glass which I love, just like the old us amps gear we all love so much! The bpx1100.1 had MASSIVE internals for a class d! wow everything about it said "I am a bad arse amp"!!!

So in short my choice was made. Going to order this next week a BPX1100.1 to power the three Image Dynamics #11x drivers.

To compliment this amp there is another beast in the power series for JBL and it fit the bill DEAD on for a killer 4 channel! It was also the exact same physical dimensions as the sub amp! HUGE!! *L* It is the PX300.4 which is cea certified to produce 123.5wpc rms at 4 ohm! sweet. Both amps are a massive 2 9/16" x 17" x 12 1/4"

Well looks like my decision has been made. Anyone want to argue there are better amps for what I am looking for and the money?

Here is the link to the class d sub amp...

I used to be a kicker auth dealer and the last one I used was the RF designed bentley grill looking amps. Was a good amp back then but they are FAR to trendy for me now, no offence to anyone but they are just not my style. Last orion I owed was an hcca 225 *LOL* yeah the ones that melted your carpet. Used to have bad experiences with repairs when they were based in Tempe "down the street from me" Thought they were owned by jensen now? Also I think I saw them in pepboys.... uh.... ok.... Amps are going to run me $550 for the class D and $270 somthing for the 4 channel.

Just so you know, I am not a penny pincher if the quality is there and the amp is built the way it should be. JBL fits this bill perfect. Have any models in mind?

Hey it's all good man //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I do not think you understand why I am making the choices I have made. But those are probably very good amps! Especially the kicker. Last the kicker is not 1 ohm stable.

Always liked diamonds higher end stuff, memphis.... I liked some of there stuff allot //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Not sure yet *LOL* Have the bass amp on order, the pb300.4 I am still trying to locate for a good price. Notta on ebay right now. From what I have listened to in the rip off shop, they are very nice amps with lots of headroom. I got to hear the 300.4 bridged to a pair of w7's and when the amp was pushed to the limit trying to drive those subs, the amp clipped gracefully and had ample headroom. Did not just hit a brick wall and let the smoke out like allot of amps these days would do when pushed well beyond there limits. The CROWN 1100.1 I was only able to see not hear. But from the looks of it and the build quality I was very impressed. One heck of a powerhouse

You will not be dissapointed...as I run both of those. Both are sexy, reliable and have never had problems since the day they were installed. The 300.4 is going to be tough to come buy though. I picked up one of the last ones Ikesound had when I bought the 1100.1 from them.

Good info thanks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif And yes, the 300.4 is proving to be very illusive. I can get the 600.2 with ease but room is a factor *LOL* for these things are HUGE! two of those with the 1100.1 would be insanity!

Orion 8004 and 1200d FTW
Nice argument //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

I wanted to get the BPX500.1 back in the day but could never find one so I went the JL 500/1 instead...which I eventually sold because a/b's sound soooo much better on subs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif It's a joke...relax....you don't all have to get your panties in a bundle now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
