My set up is this

mach 1 mustang

kicker zx 1000.1 amp, singel fosgate t212d2 and xxx 4 gauge wire kit

questions,

1) I made a vented box from the blue print of a 1.6 cuft box on this website it has a 2" vent and it runs in a L shape 10" x 21" is this a good box for my sub?

2) is the wire to small for a 1000 rms and start my car on fire?

3) should i wire the dual voice coils in series or parrelle, i know the kicker is 2 ohm stable but can it be run at 1 ohm?

3.5) is there a big sound differance is I wire it for a 4 ohm load (in series) and would this be easyer on my cars alt.

4) Do i need to get a capacitor or a larger altrinator to run this set up reguarly?

thanks for the help

77 views and no help? lol if u guys know any of these questions it would really help me i know i have **** poor spelling lol but i could really use some info. the other thing is that when i bought the used sub off craislist i didnt know there were 2 different places to hook up the wires so i was running 1 coil and it was making a barking sound almost like the cone was ratteling. Does this mean that the cone is seperating form the spider or that i effed up the sub? I did a ohm reading and both coils were between 1.9 and 2.3 ohms

1. A slot ported box with those specs will work for that sub. I hope you made sure to seal the box on the edges and corners so it will not leak.

2. Shouldn't cause a fire especially if you have it fused correctly. I almost always recommend 1/0 under the hood id you have and additional battery use 1/0 AWG (for the Big 3 too) and then send the proper gauge wire to your amps. What is the amperage your wire is rated to. They are not rated by watts.

3. That amp is not rated for 1 ohm, so if you do wire the T2 down to 1 ohm you will burn up the amp and maybe the sub. It is 4ohm stable and will put out around 500 to 600 watts RMS. However the T2 is rated at 1200 watts RMS/ 2000 peak so that sub is not receiving adequate power. DO NOT try use use the bass boost to try to beef up the sound. If you do you will clip the amp and burn up your equip. Get an amp that is 1ohm stable and will do at least 1000 RMS. Remember as you drop down the ohms on the amp it will put an additional strain on your electrical.

4.No do not use a capacitor. You can find several threads on why they do not really work. I recommend def definitely doing a big 3 upgrade, adding a additional battery (size will be dependent on your amp), and if you the amp has a large amperage pull upgrade you alternator. There are amps out there that are efficient enough at 1ohm and will do 1000 RMS without having to upgrade the alternator. Don't skimp on your electrical (wire quality, get an efficient amp, feed that T2 with enough juice, etc). If you do that properly that T2 will do some damage.

so I just got done hooking up the speaker in the box wired it parallel and whenever you try and push the sub real hard it makes a rattling sound also if you try to push it too hard the sub will cut out every once in awhile for a few seconds oh I don't know if that's because the amp is overheating or what

so I called the kid that I bought it from and he said that my box was way too small in that it needed to be at least 3 cubic feet

what do you guys think is the cone separating from the spider in that's why it's making a rattling sound or do I need a bigger box ? or did I get screwed lol

thanks for the help
