Looking to upgrade, not sure what I want

Right now I have 2 12" MA Audio XEs powered by a 1000W Hifonics Brutus. I'm happy with them, but I'm looking for a little more. They're good subs, but I guess I'm looking for a bit more sound quality. The SPL I'm happy with, they get LOUD if I want them to, but I really pretty much just listen to them at comfortable listening levels, I'm not really into blasting my brains out - but I want the ability to do that when the urge strikes //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif I was going to look to sell my subs locally and then to pick up another pair of 12s or maybe even 15s. I'm not looking to spend more than $300 for the pair. I'd do new or used. Any ideas of what I could look for in this price range to run off of the 1000W @ 1 ohm amp?

BTW, the subs will be in a sealed box at about 2.5 cubic feet. I would consider building a ported box, but I'd really rather stick with a sealed. If I went with 12's, I'd have to build a new box anyway. I've always liked the tight sound of a sealed box and I value the cargo space. I have a Tahoe with no third seat and the total depth of the box is slightly under 10", so I still have quite a bit of cargo room.

I had considered the Type R's, but to be honest with you, I think they are beyond ugly. Looks aren't high at all on my list of things to consider, but I just HATE the way the Type R looks. I can't even honestly tell you why. I just don't like it.

I was considering looking around for a pair of used RE SE's or L7's. I know I wouldn't be giving them near the power they can take at 500W RMS apiece (actually with my amp, probably closer to 425W RMS), but I think it'd be enough to make them thump pretty good in a driver. I'm not going to any comps.

Probably L7s are the best bet.

i think Incriminator Audio 187s supposed to get quite loud. i dont know if they make D4s though (i think they'd love 400 watts each)... 2 of them could be had brand new for around 200 bucks.

The only question I had about the L7's is if 1000W would be enough to push 2 12's? I know they're rated for 750W RMS. Would 1000W push them? Might it be better to build a new box and go with one 15" L7?

Personally I think if you want to upgrade your subs to something crazy like L7's then you'll need a bigger amp. For the amp you have right now Type-R's, Pioneers, Kicker CVR's or something in that range would work well.
