Looking to finish my system...

Hey everybody this is my first post, I look around here alot.

I'm looking to complete my system and I need a HU that fits my needs. I'm running Boston Pro 60 components on a JL Audio 300/2. I will NOT be going Active anytime soon, if ever.

I've narrowed it down so far to the following:

-Eclipse 7000

-Pioneer 880PRS

-Pioneer P980BT

I was wondering how extensive of tuning I can do and still run passive crossovers and whether features like time alignment and w/e are worth it.

I'm still very open to suggestions about other headunits under $500 (Ebay prices) Thanks!

People on here tend to like the 880prs. I hear the eclipse7000 is nice too. Cosmetically I prefer the 880prs over just about everything. The fact that it sounds great and has all the extra bells and whistles like TA and dual 16 band EQ makes it hard to beat anywhere near its pricepoint.

I would skip on the p980BT.

What's wrong with the 980BT?

I agree with the looks of the 880, it looks the best by far. However, I'm really wanting a little screen to play around with..

Are there any suggestions about brand other than the ones I have listed in this price range?

If you want blue tooth then the 980bt, The 7800 pioneer looks to be the same as the 980 but without bluetooth. Alpine doesnt have much anymore, just the older models have t/a and crossovers. the 880 has alot of tuning and so does the older eclipse 8454.

I thought the 980BT had everything that the 880PRS had it just had a few more bells and whistles.

Would you recomend the older Eclipse over the new CD7000?

I just looked on Pioneers site and the only difference I could find in the two Pioneer units was that the 880 had 16Bands EQ per side (32 total) and the 980BT only had 16bands total...

Scratch the 980BT..The bluetooth is simply not worth the extra money.

I have one very important question, how much SQ am I going to loose if I go with the Pioneer 7800 vs the 880PRS?

Also, can someone explain bands of parametric EQ?

The Eclipse CD7000 has 7 Bands or parametric EQ, how does this compare to the units listed above.

the 880PRS has Dual 16 band graphic EQ's while the CD7000 has dual 11 band graphic EQ's. the differneces wont be noticeable to the average person so I say go with which one you can afford.
