Looking to buy good digital camera

Looking for a christmas gift for my mom, i'm wanting to get her a nice digital camera, heres what I need:

1. takes great pics (she has a 7mp now, wanting something better, hers is messing up)

2. isn't too bulky, wanting it to be on the "sleek" side as far as cameras go

3. if it had a printer docking station that would be great

budget is under $500

Don't buy into megapixel marketing, try a Canon SD1100 for around $250, or a SD1000 if they're still at your local store for around $100. Both will take excellent pictures, PictBridge compatible, and a very nice package. Then just get a dye sublimination printer for like $100 and you're good to go.

the new sony t700 is pretty bad a$$. it has a touch screen with a built in 4g memory card. it also shoots hd. i don't normally recommend sony but this camera is awesome!

everything buddy didn't ask for. that thing is bulky and it's built like dslr... with a fixed lense your limiting yourself with kind of camera. you mind as well get a dslr if you with that canon

my canon sd870 was great except it turned on in my pocket and ruined the lens motor..

i am going to buy the sony t700 tomorrow actually..

for point and shoot cameras it's hard to beat that new sony... for dslr's i like nikon pretty good. the internal memory for the t700 is a very size feature!

Don't buy a camera for the internal memory, you can get a 2gb SD card for $10. I don't know about Sony cameras, maybe the more expensive ones are better, but every $200ish one I've heard about has plenty of noise, poor ergonomics, and tons of shutter lag.

I really like Sony cameras.

I love my Alpha 200, but that is a little more than you are looking for. I have a DSC-W90 that I really like. I've had a few other brands of cameras, but they either don't work as well as the Sony or have broken...

the only thing i wish the sony has is a wide angle.. i really liked that about my 870is.. but oh well..

getting in shower to go buy the sony now..
