looking for wiring harness adapter?

Hi...noob here at the forum and in car audio.

I am looking to take the stock stereo out of my 96 VW Jetta and install a Pioneer DEH-24F unit. The VW stereo has two 8 pin connectors, and the Pioneer has a 16 pin harness. is there a particular wiring harness adapter i can use to basically plug this bad boy in and off i go?

i also have a Pioneer amplifier i plan to hook into it, but im pretty sure i can get that and the speakers hooked in ok, since i have a decent electrical background. i just dont have a wiring diagram for the Pioneer stereo and was hoping there was a dummy-proof adapter to make this all too easy.

Thanks in advance!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Dude doesn't know bout the harness. You need to go to Wal-Mart and get a harness adaptor for your car.
Thanks. And actually yes...am i VERY color blind. LOL. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/slap.gif.87520e8ca8e90076ac30e777c0de5331.gif

And when i said i was a noob, i wasn't kidding. as such, i tend to take nothing for granted when it comes to wiring.

tr10av...could you tell me more about the harness adaptor you mention? is it a standardized type of adapter? is it for certain types of cars or stereos? i dont want to sound like a fool, because im not. i just like to have all the info i can get. im big on research.

Thanks again. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

it's a harness that plugs into your factory plug and displays the "standard" color for wires to match to you aftermarket harness.

like this:

got another question...

i am also going to be putting in a Pioneer GM-X332 amp. everything looks to be very straight forward. however, there is a "system control" terminal next to the power and ground terminals. where should this be tied in?

in other words, i dont need to worry about it, right? what kind of accessory would you use it for?
no, you do need to worry about it. that is what is going to turn the amp on. you'll have a blue wire on the back of you aftermarket head unit that'll say remote out and you just connect it to that.
