Looking for specifics in new head unit

Hey guys. I'm relatively new to setting up car stereos and am putting rockford punch speakers and a 12 inch p3 sub in my girlfriend's car. The problem is that I don't know what I'm looking for in reading about head units and I don't want something needlessly expensive. What I need is aux input, sub output, preferably with lpf and hpf and a usb port with the deck displaying songs and allowing you to control an ipod from the head unit. Local radio display would also be a plus but the important thing is the sub support and the ipod controls. I don't need bluetooth or a touchscreen and really need to get this right.
