I just bought a Clarion APA 2160 amplifier for my new system including a Clarion DXZ955MC. Keep in mind this is going to be a SQ set up not a SPL setup. This amp is rated at 250 Watts RMS at 2 Ohms. I have been looking at a 12W3v2-D4 as I can wire up the speaker to be at 2 ohms in parallel. Yet this speaker is rated for 300 watts RMS. Is this going to be a huge factor with what I am wanting to do, or should I go with something else smaller? I am wanting to keep the box as small as possible also. This is my grocery getter.
Also, what speakers would be good for this head unit? Keeping in mind that I do not want to modify my car. The front doors have 4 x 6's and the Rear deck has 6 x 9's It puts out 53 watts max, which I would believe to be 37.1 RMS, but I could be wrong on that. I really dont want to buy a 4 channel amp, and run all that extra wire through the doors either, I am getting lazy in my old age, and dont care if the speakers out do the guy next to me. I do want to have some amazing sound comming out of the speakers though, tis why I bought such a nice head unit. Thanks for taking a look, I appreciate it, and any comments that follow.
